Meet one of our newest brand ambassadors, Rebecca Telfort.

Q: What is your primary passion (activity, pursuit, adventure)? Please describe how it fits into your life?

I enjoy being outdoors whether that is exploring new hiking trails, having a picnic, journaling outside traveling (domestically or internationally). Being outdoors has a way of really helping with any anxious feelings, helps me feel grounded and ultimately makes me happier.

Q: What are your secondary activities/passions?

I enjoy reading (i’ve been loving my new kindle), listening to podcasts, cooking, going to farmers markets and scrolling on Pinterest.

Q: In relation to that primary passion, can you tell us when you first got the itch? Did you have a mentor, family member, friend or guide who helped get you into it?

It stemmed from lock down during the outbreak of COVID. I was living in NYC with my parents and we are instructed to isolate. I’m very thankful my parents have a backyard because it became my yoga studio, my working space, ultimately my retreat. I needed to go outside often to not feel overwhelmed. One of my best friends was also really into hiking so we started going on hikes and taking trips to the beach together. Being outdoors was a safe way for us to connect.

Q: In what ways do you find and inspire joy on your adventures or in your active lifestyle? How do you break away from pre-packaged outdoor experiences and imprint your own style on your adventures?

I find and am inspired by the simple and natural beauty of being outdoors. I make an effort to go on daily walks or spend the evening with some time journaling outside. I’m inspired by the ease it takes to be grounded outdoors. I generally break away from pre-packaged outdoor experiences with impromptu hiking adventures with friends or truly making a camping experience unique with friends.

Q: Have you had any noteworthy active/adventure mishaps, successes, or a-ha moments?

In college I went on a 8-day camping trip to the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. It was my first introduction to camping and it was very intense. It was overwhelming and I still remember many times wanting to simply go back home. As a city kid I didn’t know anything about hiking, pitching a tent, eating or sleeping outdoors. I also traveled with a group of people who didn’t look like me. It was a lot to take in but i’m very proud that although it was my first experience, it wasn’t my last.

Q: Where is your favorite place to spend a day outdoors?

The local park

Q: Who inspires you, both personally and in the world of adventure and/or travel?

Tee from the blog A Sip of Tee (is someone who looks like me) and has the opportunity to go on incredible adventures all throughout Georgia (and the country). I love following all her adventures and getting recommendations

Q: What is your greatest adventure/active lifestyle triumph?

I moved from NYC to Georgia 9 months ago and it was the best decision I could have made. I’m surrounded by more nature, more opportunities to hike, a slower pace and i’m happier. I even help to plan a camping trip to Arabia mountain when I moved here.

Q: What is your next trip active lifestyle goal or skill you’d like to learn?

I’d like the basics of camping like pitching a tent, building a fire and planning a group camping trip

Q: Where do you really want to go and why?

Redwood National State Park in California. The environment and climate are rapidly changing, I’d love to see these beautiful trees like sequoias while they are still around.

Q: What are your current favorite outdoor clothes that aid you in outdoor adventure or active lifestyle pursuits? How do you plan to enhance your activities with Outdoor Afro, Inc. gear?

I received these hiking shorts from Alder Apparel and I absolutely love the quality, color and the versatility of the shorts. I can wear them at Target and on top of a mountain.I also love the brand Hikerkind, I’ve been able to attend a few community events and learned so much about sustainability and the outdoors.

Q: What is your favorite Outdoor Afro, Inc. product, and why? Or a product you’re most excited to try out?

I love the nature nap satin pillow! It was intentionally made, the colors/pattern is lovely and is so efficient.

Q: How do you like to connect with your community and people within it?

I love this question! I really thrive through quality time with others and I’d love to participate in hiking trips, camping experiences or outdoor meet ups, even if its a local walking and journaling session.
